Here are nine terrible tunes. April fools – obviously – enjoy nine excellent new KaneTrax!
Kicking it off with some serious vintage psychedelia-laced rock and roll is Triptides, who’s album Alter Echoes is seriously top notch. I had a hard time deciding on one tune to feature, so dig the whole record. Also vintage, but this time 90’s alternative-esque is Cloud Nothings, up next with Sound Of Alarm. Blu DeTiger blew up on TikTok but has some serious chops as a bassist and Toast With the Butter is a quirky, funky tune sure to find its way onto repeat. Years after playing together in Squirrel Nut Zippers, Jimbo Mathus and Andrew Bird team up for an excellent, folksy album, and Sweet Oblivion is one sweet tune. Next up is the Fruit Bats, the original brainchild of Erik D. Johnson, who’s been featured on KaneTrax in various incarnations. His soothing vocals are A+ on Holy Rose. Jon Batiste shouldn’t need much of an intro, but if you aren’t familiar, dig into his new album, and dig in hard. Her name must not be any coincidence, as the dreamy vocals of Joni ring of that signature Laurel Canyon sound. Her 5 track EP is a simply delightful listen. The next artist shouldn’t be a surprise, as you know I love King Gizzard & The Lizzard Wizard. The surprise is how they continue to put out an incredible amount of new music that continues to impress. And last but not least, from the solo effort of Real Estate bassist Alex Bleeker, is Lonesome Call. The tune stands out from the rest of the album as a stripped down, acoustic, folksy number that just felt right to close out this month.
