Congratulations, you’ve made it to March! Celebrate with fresh KaneTrax.
Lots to love this month (as usual of course). Wild Pink opens things up, with what might be my favorite new album of 2021 thus far, and you have to laugh at such an ironic song title: “The Shining but Tropical”. Things go synth-pop-y from here with a release from German artist/producer Roosevelt, and then we bend genres a bit with This Is The Kit’s driving folk rock style on “This Is What You Did”. England’s Goat Girl seems to bend genres even further with a touch of punk, psychedelia and trance that blends together nicely with “Closing In”. I’ll be honest, the colorful album cover featured on the first collaboration of Martin & Garp is what initially grabbed me (it might as well be the soundtrack to Miami Vice), but their sound is rooted in late-70’s-groovy-west-cost-rock and “Making Up” is a super catchy tune exemplifying this vintage vibe. If you are a music enthusiast, Arlo Parks is surely on your radar already. “Eugene” seems to be popping up everywhere, but give her entire debut album a spin – you won’t regret it. I’ll give props if you can make it through “Free Today” without getting up and dancing. This tune comes off another debut album, this one from Albertine Sarges. The Besnard Lakes take things out there next with strong ambient/indie undertones and then we come home strong with the glam-rock tune ‘Foxes’ from the sophomore release of Midnight Sister. Now get listening!
