April showers bring May flowers, but what do May showers bring? More KaneTrax of course!

First out of the gate is an early pick for song of the summer, Make Me Feel by Janelle Monae. This song is straight up pop goodness, and if listening makes you feel half of what I feel, you’re in for some fun.
The Dig is next with Moonlight Baby which rips right in with a triumphant anthem-like opening, and marches on to a rockin’ yet blissful finish.
Now we go a tad new wave and a tad electronica with in In Your Beat from Django Django‘s latest. It’s robot-like vocals sit nicely on top of what almost feels like a 1980’s video game soundtrack. Nicely done.
With a song that screams of the past (think 70s-spacey-psychedelia) Once and Future Band delivers with I’ll Be Fine. It’s got effects heavy guitar solos, heavy drumming, and layered vocals that weave from angry to gentle and back so smoothly.
One vintage tune calls for another, with Saturday Night by The Sheepdogs, which would fit right in on any classic rock compilation, and I would listen any night.
Unknown Mortal Orchestra has bit heavier, psychedelic style traditionally, but grabbed me with their stripped down, soothing sound on Not In Love We’re Just High. The falsetto vocals and smooth melody make for a really fine track, with a strong hint of that trademark psychedelia of course.
For something in a completely different genre: The Middle from Duluth, MN’s own Trampled by Turtles. I happened to catch them last weekend and let me say these guys have really mastered the art of an throwing old-school bluegrass hoe down.
This next tune has some seriously bluesy vibes but I must have been in a 70’s mood this month because Hold On by Dragoneer is yet another song that seems to have an aged-like-fine-wine sound, yet still sounds fresh to my ears.
After nearly a week straight of rainy days here in New York City, I must admit the thought is tempting, but I have to agree with Okkervil River and their message here when they say Don’t Move Back to L.A. Nonetheless, I dig this tune off their new album and though it was a fitting end to this months mix. See ya soon!
